My MOS was 2511 Wireman, I installed communications. I think Capt Osborn was CO. There was a LT Chapman. other Marines that were there; JJ Mrekil,Chuck Day, RD Wolf, These Marines were in comm.co.I was at hill 22,270 at DMZ and many other rice fildes that I was able visit. After all this fun I went into HELO HMM-165 at SANTA ANA.CALIF which became HMM-265,many other stops along the way. I retired in Jan 84 from SOES Cherry Point (and am still here). So, if I have crossed your path along the way and you would like to contact me, please e-mail at the address listed.

I was a Japanese Language Officer. I arrived on Guam in late July or early August. Was with the 3rd Marines for a while and then at Island Command for a few weeks. My biggest thrill was to hear the Japanese surrender broadcast in Japanese and going down to the Officers' Club and making the announcement. No one would believe me. In September 1945 I went to Sasebo, Japan and came home on Xmas day 1945.Would love to hear from any one I knew back then.

Happy Birthday Marines Past,Present and Future and a Prayer for our brothers and selves. Marine Birthday Prayer "0 Lord, we have long known that prayer should include confession. Therefore on behalf of the Marines and their guests here gathered, I confess their Sins: Lord, they are just not in step with today's society. They are unreasonable in clinging to old-fashioned ideas like patriotism, duty, honor and country. They hold radical ideas believing that they are their brother's keeper and responsible for the Marine on their flank. They have been seen standing when colors pass, singing the National Anthem at ball games, and drinking toasts to fallen comrades. Not only that, they have been observed standing tall; taking charge and wearing their hair unfashionably short. They have taken Teddy R's and JFK's words too seriously and are overly concerned with what they can do for their service and country instead of what the country can do for them. They take the Pledge of Allegiance to heart and believe that their oath is to be honored. Forgive them, Lord, for being stubborn men and women who hold these values as genuine. They are aware of the price for honor and with total command of their spirit, they have been willing to pay that price. After all, what more can you expect? They are Marines! 0 Lord our God, bless these men and women of ideals, continue to raise up in this nation strong leaders and deliver us from "me first" managers" and "don't ask me" followers. Be our honored guest this day, Oh Lord, and join with us in laughter, good food, good drink, and the telling of tall tales and legends that occasionally exceed the truth. We bow our heads to those who were lost in places that had names meaningless until the mud-Marines landed, and in that, mud reaffirmed the one legacy that brings all Marines together, the Blood and tears shed for service and each other. Watch over and keep safe all those who wear this nation's uniforms with special attention to their families and loved ones everywhere. Especially all our brothers deployed around the world in harms way. Father thank you for all your help in these times. Guide our leaders may they be strong but fair and firm and carry out your well only. With brandy and cigar in hand, I salute you all for through this day and all the following nights and days ahead, God bless you, God Bless this great nation and God bless the Corps. ""Arrruggha!" Amen Happy Birthday and God lay his mercy upon us as a Corps and as a Nation. November 10, 2004

I am writing this letter to all my brothers out there to remind you to go vote. You of all citizens have earned that precious right that countless Millions of our fore fathers died for. Marines this is our duty just as any other mission. I know we might not like neither of the two or three candidates that we have to choose from, but if you do not vote, you elected that person who won. So as for the situation of neither of the top two at least flip a coin. But I dither you have studied all candidates and prayed and thought your vote through. If you have your vote win or lose, it was and is right. Remember we still vote for all those on the Wall and those who never returned. We cannot fell you must push on and keep Old Glory High and Proud. In addition, please do not forget to say a prayer for our troops daily risking their life so we can vote. I was looking on your website because my grandfather, James A. P. Conwell, just passed away over the weekend. He served with the 3rd Marine Division, 21st Marines, 3rd Bat., I Company during WWII. I just learned that his nickname was JAP, because of his initials on his dogtags. I will be giving his eulogy at his funeral.
