Brothers, I have had a bad time. A storm destroyed half my house. I am pretty good at repairong things, but I can not pay for the entire fix. If you could send me a dollar or two I would really appreciate it. If not, my thanks for being able to serve with you is the most memorable, and the most prideful time of my life. About a year ago I ran across a web site listed with a Marine Corp Guest Book. I was able to plug in and search by Plt number and dates graduated of guests who had left their e-mail address to be contacted. I listed seven Plts that I had the honor to be one of their Drill Instructors and the dates they graduated at MCRD San Diego 1962 -64 Ist Bn. C Company. I came up with six names. All six were sent an E-mail with only "Do you remember your DI?" Five former Marines replied. Needless to say after 40 years....all five made my day. If any former USMC Drill Instructors or the other branches of our Nations Armed Forces have ever wondered if they made a difference in another's life.......especially a former Pvt. Try it !!!!!!!!! It might just put that "good tear" in your eye. Does anyone know what happen to that guest book of approx.. 38 thousands former Marines that had logged on? If so please tell me how to get back there.... at fosterone7@aol.com

I served with greatest men in the world as United States Marines and worked for and with some of the finest Officers to ever wear the uniform. But those brave Gentleman at Di Doa, Little View, Ocean View, Alfa 3 ,C-3 , Cua Viet , Leatherneck Square, The Wash out , Cam Lo, and An Loc of Bravo 1/3 be at Hill 22 or Hai Lang Forrest or the DMZ were always there and did what it took. I remember when we got pulled out of the field after nine month of operation to get feed, cleaned and new uniforms and equipment at Dong Ha and we knew then hell was to be payed and we all served in that part of hell proudly. I was hit July the 4th, alone with Lt Keppen and many others but thanks to Capt Ford and his encouragement we did ole Bravo well. Sorry I can,t remember all of us but Hartman, Locklear, Smitty, McDaniels, Heir, DOC, Green, and all of you have been with me over 34 years. I remember the day we lose our PLt Sgt, and the Morning of 12 Jan 68 when Bagnell fell at Hill 22 but we continued on. Robinson ,Davis, hope you guys are fine. Hartman your to mean to die. Semper Fidelis to all of you Brave souls but thre will be others because you,ve set a mark to be reached just like Dan Daily, John Quick, Smedley Butler, and Sgt O,Mally and the Marines of C-1-2-2 recently in Iraq. Best wishes to your families and remember you are Teufuelhundens as much as our forefathers in France and Germany.

My father was Audrey M. "Val" Valentine. Born Nov.10,1916 Died Nov.15, 1995. He joined the Marines on December 18,1941, and was with the Third Batallion , Ninth Marines, first as a Mortar Squad Leader(Bougainville), then as a Forward Observer (attached to Captain William Crawford's "K" Company on Guam). I do not know to which Company he was attached on Iwo Jima, but he was a forward observer there as well. He was hit by an enemy Mortar shell on (according to him) the first day of combat. According to the records, he was hit on March 7 (the 11th day of combat). He was -along with many other serious injuries - totally blinded. He once said he wouldn't do it again for a Million dollars - a lot of money back then - but he wouldn't trade the experience for a Million dollars either. The names of some of his friends come to mind; Lieutenant Johnny Lightsey; Seargeant John Benge; Seargeant Chester Farmer; John Santana; cantrememberhisfirstname Murphy; Kenneth S. Johnson (the bale bucking brawler from Brawley - who I am named after); there are many others who's names escape me at the moment. If any one knows of any of these people - if they are still around after all these years - I would very much like to speak to them. Thank You. Ken Valentine

Interested in finding anyone from platoon 3319 at MCRD in 1966. Staff SGT. Dvorak was our C.O. I'm sure you would remember SGT Shikowski, he was reassigned to another platoon before we graduated. I don't remember why but I do have a pretty good idea. Also I lost the red book they gave us and I'd be interested in obtaining another. Semper Fi Brothers

Joined the Corps in 1966 and went to boot at MCRD. Platoon 3319 under the command of SSGT Dvorak, thanks for preparing us for the job that Marines are asked to do. Sent to Nam in 1967, Echo 2/9. Made some stops at Khe Sanh, Chu Lai, Con Thien and Dong Ha. Operation Kingfisher and Hickory still live in my mind. Spent some time on the Repose and saw what war can do to a body and mind. Stationed at Marine Barracks at Pearl Harbor in 1968. Made some good friendships there, Harris, Price, Gunny Mac, Mc Itch. Discharged at Camp Pendleton Ca in 1969. Hello Marines, My name is Matthew Grant and I am the co-Founder of an organization called THe Education and Support Alliance Project (ESAP). This organization is dedicated to ensuring that students in American High Schools are shown the many sacrifices past generations and veterans as a whole have given for their freedoms. Many from your ranks are already involved (such as 4 MOH recipients-from the 3rd marine division alone!!!!), but we still need help. We need everything from money to members and everything in between. Please visit our site (www.esap.org)and help us in any way that you can. Thank you, Matthew Grant

I'm thinking 26th or 9th or 4th Marine Regiments. Time: April to May, 1967. Operation Name unsure, but could be Prairie IV.

Event: I was a photographer with a platoon of Marines who chose the wrong side of a deep stream to make their advance. NVA ambushed us from the top of a hill. We were trapped and finally had to make a run for it.

Sound familiar?? Fill me in with the details, like Operation name, the events of that day, etc.

I'm trying to locate men who served with me at DaNang air base in the A/C structural repair shop on the flight line, servicing A6A Intruder,F4 Phantom, and other Marine aircraft as they came in for repair.I arrived there in spring of 67 and toured 1 yr. & 22 mos.Cpl Buck Nutt ,Cpl. Terry Bowen were friends but they worked on day shift.I worked nites with a Lcpl. from N.York who loved to spraypaint the cockpits (a little to much). One nite when rockett and mortar fire got to close I stayed to locke up shop area and everyone thought a rockett got untill I crawled into the sandbunker and bummed a cigarette.
