2008 Reunion Tours


WEST POINT TOUR
Wednesday, July 31
Sit back and enjoy the ride to the United States Military Academy on the Hudson River's West Point. Founded in 1802, the Academy is home to 4,000 cadets. There will be a guided tour of the grounds highlighting the amazing Gothic architecture of the barracks and classrooms. West Point is known as America's first engineering school, going back to the 1800s. You will see the Protestant Chapel, Eisenhower Hall, and the many statues and monuments honoring America's famous military heroes. We will lunch at near by Nicole's restaurant, featuring Roasted Chicken with salad, vegetables, beverage and dessert. There will be time to visit the West Point Museum, where the West Point Gallery will take you on a trip through time. The Museum holds the largest collection of military arms, flags, uniforms, paintings, and artifacts in the Western Hemisphere. Notes: This tour requires a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.

WATERHOUSE MUSEUM / NJ VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL AND EDUCATION CENTER
Thursday, July 31
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the walls of the Colonel Charles Waterhouse Historical Museum speak volumes. Hung with scores of vivid and dramatic paintings by the first and only artist awarded the coveted title, Artist-in-Residence, U.S. Marine Corps; the museum is dedicated to American history as portrayed by the artist. Waterhouse's paintings span our history from Revolutionary times until the present, and provide a visual tribute to all the brave Americans who have lived and died in the cause of their country. Enjoy lunch at Old Country Buffet before heading to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial. The memorial and the adjacent museum honor all those who served our country during the Vietnam War. Dedicated in September 1998, the Educational Center is devoted to gaining an understanding of the conflict in Southeast Asia and the surrounding political strife in America.

NEW YORK CITY TOUR
Friday, August 1
The tour begins once we pick up our tour guide in NYC. Enjoy a guided driving tour of the "Big Apple," a city with so many points of interest it is hard to list them all! Take in Times Square, the Theater District, SoHo, Greenwich Village, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, and Wall Street. Other highlights of the city tour will include Chinatown, Little Italy, and the Battery. You'll also see Ground Zero for an emotional remembrance of what that site symbolizes. Lunch will be on your own with several options from which to choose.

MEADOWLANDS RACETRACK

For 30 years, Meadowlands Racetrack has been captivating audiences with exhilarating harness and thoroughbred racing. Enjoy a lavish buffet in the award-willing Pegasus Restaurant. Located on the penthouse level overlooking the New York skyline, this one-of-a-kind dining experience will delight your taste buds and put you in the mood for some good old-fashioned horse racing. As night falls, witness the excitement as all eyes turn to the horses and drivers. The restaurant offers the finest view of live racing along with a number of TV monitors, so there's never a need to miss a moment of the races.
Dress Code: The restaurant requires "Business Casual" dress. No athletic attire, jeans, sneakers, or tee-shirts will be permitted.

For attendees canceling reunion activities prior to the cut-off date, Armed Forces Reunions, Inc. (AFR) shall process a full refund less the non-refundable AFR registration fee ($5 per person). Attendees canceling reunion activities after the cut-off date will be refunded to the fullest extent that AFR’s vendor commitments and guarantees will allow, less the non-refundable AFR registration fee. Cancellations will only be taken Monday through Friday from 9:00am until 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time, excluding holidays. Please call (757) 625-6401 to cancel reunion activities and obtain a cancellation code. Refunds processed 4-6 weeks after reunion. Canceling your hotel reservation does not cancel your reunion activities
